"It's like an angel slapped me in the face."

I have always dreamed of being a teacher. I wrote down things my teachers did that I knew I wanted to do when I became one. I volunteered any time I could to work with kids. I knew that's what I was going to be...a teacher! So, high school graduation came and I had been accepted at the college I wanted to attend. I was already to begin my journey. As I went through college, I got more and more excited at all the prospects that awaited me. This past fall I found myself with a teaching position in third grade. Long story short, I took over in the spring for a teacher who retired mid-year. Then, I was rehired for the fall.

And it was like, "an angel slapped me in the face." Haha...that is the quote from one of my third graders who tasted a new flavor of ice cream for the first time. But I thought it was appropriate for how I felt at the beginning of my first "official" year. I had all these great ideas but no time to implement them. I felt like I was barely keeping my head above water before another wave came crashing down.

Now that summer is upon us I can't help but sit back and reflect on the things I wanted to do. I also find I have time to search the web and other resources for wonderful ideas. I hope that with this Blog I will feel motivated to keep up the search and share it with you all.
